About ByMUG

Why ByMUG?

We thought that a social Mac user group serving the Byward Market and downtown core of Ottawa was a great idea, and after passing the idea on to a few other fellow Mac users, our thoughts became a reality.

What is the Bytown Mac User Group of Ottawa (ByMUG)?

The Bytown Mac User Group (ByMUG) is a free membership social Mac-based user group located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It caters to any Mac users who happens to be in the Ottawa-area on the day of the meetings.

The meetings take place on the first Sunday of every month at a local eatery/pub called Patty Bolands. They have excellent food, a homey ambiance, and friendly employees that make your Patty Bolands experience a down home experience.

Next meeting: 1:00 PM Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

The next meeting will be held on Sunday, August 3rd at 1:00 PM, at Patty Bolands Pub (101 Clarence Street).

For August's meeting, Glenda will demonstrate Microsoft's Word 2008, Katheryne will show how to customize the look of your Mac, and Rock will show off how Hazel can help automate many tasks on your Mac. Hazel's creators, Noodlesoft have graciously donated one license to be awarded to a lucky meeting attendee. Of course, there will be iPhone 3G show and tell as well.

Afterwards, there are the questions & answers, as well as software and web site suggestions.

Because we aren't sure of the number of people who will be attending, please RSVP as soon as you can.

And that's what ByMUG is. A computer user group dedicated to the Mac, that meets in a social environment, therefore making everyone who comes feel at home. Maybe you'll want to eat lunch or supper while at one of the meetings. Or maybe you'll want to have a pint.

Demonstrations, question periods, guest speakers, announcements, and more. We'll cover what we can, when we can.

What's with the name?

Bytown is the original name for the city of Ottawa when it was founded in 1850, and is occasionally used to refer to the downtown and Market areas of Ottawa.

Special Thanks: Thinknostic

We would like to publicly thank Thinknostic for providing ByMUG with a projector for the majority of its meeting. Thank you!
